Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Benami is the new target” (December 27). Even if 100 per cent of the demonetised notes have returned to the banks within the stipulated time, demonetisation will end up in abolishing fake currency which could have been done in a smoother way.
However, the Government should now start cleaning up 95 per cent of black wealth in the form of benami property, gold and foreign bank deposit abroad, strengthen social security and improve health and education sectors if it wants to win the 2019 lok Sabha election.
