Sir — This refers to the report, “Chandigarh sweep: note ban, anti-incumbency no issueIJ” (December 21). Amidst the onslaught on demonetisation, the sweeping victory in Chandigarh civic polls must have given the BJP a sigh of relief. It also has a message for the likes of Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee etc, that inspite of facing immense hardship, people are unimpressed by their false propaganda on demonetisation.
However, there is little scope for the BJP to be complacent as restrictions on money withdrawals are continuing, people are standing in queues in banks, and ATMs are still dry. Of course, the BJP has been victorious in the Assembly and the lok Sabha by-elections and in local body polls, but the real test will be the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
