This refers to the editorial, “Note-worthy decision” (November 10). The suddenness and secrecy behind the demonetisation drive has stunned one and all. Black money hoarders have not been given any chance to replace their money. Their only option now is to deposit their money into the bank and thereby become taxable.
The Government’s actions came in the backdrop of a sustained effort to target black money. The real question is whether this measure will be enough to eliminate black money. Perhaps it will not be able to curb the flow of black money completely, but it would serve as a ‘stepping stone’ towards a corruption-free India.
