This refers to the editorial, “Needless brouhaha” (November 2). The Bhopal police had tenable evidence of the involvement of SIMI activists in various subversive activities. They were a threat to the nation’s security. If the activists were not involved, why did they have to escape the jail, killing a duty-bound prison staffIJ Why did they not wait for a trialIJ
It must also be probed as to how these activists received arms to fight the security forces. This must be the handiwork of some clandestine criminals to help them resist police encounter. We should express no regret and shock over their death.
