Sir — This refers to the editorial, “China and Masood Azhar” (October 12). The editorial rightly condemns Beijing for opposing the UN ban on Masood Azhar to please its real ally, Pakistan. China insists that it is against terrorism. If so, why is it defending this Pakistani terrorist despite the fact that his terror outfit, Jaish-e-Mohammed, is already banned by the UNIJ Is it not dishonesty and hypocrisyIJ
It is common knowledge that Pakistan, China’s all-time friend, regards Azhar as a ‘good’ terrorist because he is engaged in a conspiracy to destroy and destabilise India, which Pakistan considers its foremost enemy. China’s argument that India was demanding action against Azhar for political gains in the name of counter-terrorism, is hollow. It is time our Government reviews its China policy in the face of the latter’s relentless hostile acts.
