Sir — This refers to the report, “SC questions appointment of ex-Army officer as AMU V-C” (September 20). Posting of former military officers on significant positions, by comprehensively disregarding the University Grants Commission’s directives, may create unprecedented convolutions across the country. Compromising on the prevailing rules, merely linking the conduct with the minority status of institutions, is misleading. Besides it mocks the reliance of common people in our education procedure.
