Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Samajwadi Party tussle” (September 15). Tension had been brewing within the Yadav family ever since Akhilesh Yadav was made the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. There is no doubt that Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav will not leave any stone unturned to restore peace in the family, but it is easier said than done.
In a three-cornered fight, such a development will only act as an advantage to both the Bahujan Samaj Party and the BJP. And even if this ongoing rift is resolved, now that Shivpal Yadav has been made the party’s chief in Uttar Pradesh, there will be direct conflict between the Chief Minister and Shivpal Yadav. Whichever way this situation turns, Uttar Pradesh will witness one of the most intense elections in a high-stake political game.
