Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Kim continues madness” (September 12). It serves China’s interests to let North Korea continue its adventurism and madness. Isolating a country through economic sanctions has no deterrent effect, especially on states which are high on self-righteousness and adventurism, and are nurtured covertly through big powers.
The condemnation coming from China is only limited to diplomatic Press briefings, which are famous for their rhetoric. To keep a check on both South Korea and Japan, China is there to sustain North Korea, economically and financially. It is playing the same strategic game of empowering friendly states with nuclear material so as to enable them to keep a vigil on common enemies.
