This refers to the article, “India’s untouchable past is its shameful present” (August 9) by Sandhya Jain. It is unfortunate that gau rakshaks have got fertile grounds with stinking manure of untouchability that rules the roost in our shameful present.
How long will the hatred against anything, which is not in conformity with high castes keep snowballingIJ Dalits who eat beef are facing intolerance, hatred and untouchability. India badly needs immediate political movement and monitoring to implement Article 17 of the Constitution which says, “Untouchability is abolished and its practice in any form is forbidden. The enforcement of any disability arising out of ‘untouchability’ shall be an offence punishable in accordance with law”.
