Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Surge in sarkari salary” (July 1). The Seventh Pay Commissions’ recommendations for a salary hike is an advance diwali gift for Government employees. However, it is the poor and those working in unorganised sectors who will be hit the hardest since inflation is likely to rise manifold. The Government should do justice to them too by increasing the minimum wages proportionally.
