This refers to the editorial, “BJP’s new footprints” (May 20). The just announced Assembly election results in four States have only confirmed a further slide for the Congress, after the party suffered a major setback in the 2014 lok Sabha election. The grand old party has not yet reconciled to the ground reality that the Nehru-Gandhis do not attract voters anymore. The party has to move beyond the family. However, it’s now too late to make amends as the Congress does not have strong leaders.
For the BJP, the win in Assam offers a massive advantage and will surely pave the way for consolidation of power in the North-East. The party needs to keep doing good work to win more hearts across the country.
