Good decision

This refers to the editorial, “The Uttarakhand saga” (April 23). The Supreme Court’s stay on the Uttarakhand High Court’s verdict, setting aside President’s Rule in the State, is well deserved. The remarks of the judges of the High Court, in respect of not only the Centre but also the President, were enough indication of which way the wind was blowing. The President’s decision is open to judicial review but that doesn’t allow judges to say that the President is “not king” and “can be horribly wrong”.

However, the Supreme Court desisted from proceeding the case till a copy of the written judgement was made available by the High Court. Meanwhile, Harish Rawat chaired two Cabinet meetings and took 11 major decisions, including giving 150 Congressmen posts equivalent to State Ministers. The apex court must take note of it.
