This refers to the article, “West Bengal’s false messiahs” (April 6) by Anirban Ganguly. The writer has correctly quoted Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah’s view that West Bengal is afflicted and weighed down by ‘hunger, fear and corruption’.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led left Front ruled this State for almost three decades with little progress. Then came the Mamata wave with a symbolic rhetoric of ‘Ma-mati-manush’, but on the ground level, the Mamata-led Trinamool Congress too followed the legacy of the left. The recent Kolkata flyover tragedy has exposed the hypocrisy of the left (before 2011) and of the TMC (during its five-year rule).
