Sir — This refers to the article, “Addressing the demand for quota” (February 26) by Kalyani Shankar. I do not agree with the author’s view that reservation becomes absurd when even the forward castes demand it. What is wrong with thatIJ There are poor people in all castes. If jobs are not given on the basis of merit and/or required qualification, then poor people (of all castes) should be treated as equally qualified for the job.
