Sir — Of all the anti-national slogans raised at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, the slogan, “Afzal ham sharminda hain, tere katil jinda hain” (Afzal, we are ashamed that your killers are alive) is the most threatening. One is reminded of a similar slogan raised in Kashmir in 1984, when dreaded terrorist Maqbool Bhat was hanged at Tihar jail. This slogan continued to rent the air in the valley until five years, when militants gunned down Neelkanth Ganjoo, the judge who had pronounced the death sentence.
