This refers to the report, “Sardar jokes ban impractical: Apex court seeks suggestions” (February 17). Very often, women find themselves being victimised by sexist jokes. What will the Supreme Court do to suppress these jokes that irk nearly half of the nation’s populationIJ An appropriate solution to this problem will be to address the root cause and make people realise the absurdity of these jokes. Simply banning them will just curtail freedom of speech and expression.
