This refers to the editorial, “Premature accusations” (January 21). It is shameful that a suicide by a Dalit student is being unnecessarily politicised. That Rohith Vemula was a Dalit is giving a sharper edge to his identity. It’s just incidental that he was born a Dalit.
Sadly, his death is being exploited by various political parties, to score brownie points against the Union Government. Intervention by the Central authorities is only leading to institutional paralysis. The matter should have been resolved at the university level.
