Sir — This refers to the report, “Mohammed Rafi’s son joins Congress” (January 16). Mr Shahid Rafi’s move to join the Congress can be best defined as political opportunism for power and gain. Besides, his demand to posthumously honour his father with the nation’s highest award of Bharat Ratna is a self-centred one.
People can serve the country in many capacities. Therefore, his ‘desire’ to serve the people as an MlA, exposes his shrouded intent that he has joined the Congress to sit in the Assembly.
