Bitter truth

Published on:

Sir — Mr Arun Shourie’s trenchant criticism of the NDA Government has come as music to the Opposition ears, especially when the commentator has not taken care to formally resign from the BJP. It is known that Mr Shourie has been a different kettle of fish, in his approach towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It will be easy to dismiss what Mr Shourie has said, as being a case of sour grapes. But a wise leadership will take note of the shortcomings that Mr Shourie has highlighted.

He may be wrong to focus on the half-empty glass in his present mood of frustration, but there can be no denying that his criticism does ring true. And yes, had his wish to become a Minister been granted by Mr Modi, the same Mr Shourie would have harped only on the half-full glass. However, his bitterness is irrelevant. What should matter to the Government is the bitter truth he spoke.
