Tackling terror

Published on:

This refers to the editorial, “Sharif’s failed diplomacy” (October 24). It is good that Pakistan will not have a civil nuclear deal with the US. The US has conveyed its concerns on the safety of nuclear equipment and the potential threat from terrorists.

First, it is known that Pakistan has abundant nuclear facilities. In the event of an agreement with the US, this facility can get strengthened. Pakistan is also the breeding ground for terrorism. If the nuclear arsenal gets into the hands of the terrorists, the development can spell disaster in the region. It will be a threat to world unity.

Second, the US should cut all aid to Pakistan till all the terror camps there are dismantled and terrorist activities in the state are fully curbed. This will go a long way in curbing terrorism in the South Asian region.
