Sir — This refers to the article, “An outstanding scholar, an appointment mess” (October 10) by Ashok Malik. The writer presumes that the entire episode of Mr Mahesh Rangarajan’s extension to the post by the Congress, after the latter lost the lok Sabha election in 2014, was known to the new Minister. I have serious doubts about it. If it is so, why should the Minister have said that he only recently came to know about the story behind Mr Rangarajan’s extensionIJ
Generally speaking, the Modi Government has not showed any inclination towards vindictive politics. Had the contrary been so, many Congress leaders, including their party president, would have found themselves in difficult situations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that he will focus on his development agenda and that the law will take its own course. He is exactly doing that.
