Shameful conduct

Published on:
Without going into the allegations and counter-allegations which are being levelled both by the ruling combine and the opposition parties against each other, over whose adamant attitude was responsible for the washout of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, there is no denying that, what happened has sent wrong signals across the globe from a country which is the world’s largest democracy. The imposition the of principle of ‘no work, no pay’ for MPs continues to remain a
wishful idea.
On the 69th Independence Day, it is incumbent upon all our MPs cutting across party lines to thoroughly introspect if all this is a healthy sign for the success of a parliamentary democracyIJ What would other democratic nations learn from usIJ We, the people of India, bow our heads in shame over such disruptive acts.
