BJD parliamentarian Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda deserves compliments for seeking the removal of subsidy at the Parliament canteen. It is time that other MPs cutting across party-lines join the initiative. A similar subsidy exists in canteens of several State legislative Assemblies, and needs to be abolished. There are also many States where Chief Ministers have legislated expensive post-retirement facilities for themselves. This must end.
