Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Misplaced clampdown” (May 15). A scientist in a Government research laboratory needs a series of approvals to publish a paper. And here we have transient political heads flashing themselves in Government advertisements for projects that, at best, carry their administrative approval. Government advertisements with needless photographs of politicians have become a medium for for self-promotion. Personality cult in a democracy is not good.
