Sir — To Prime Minister Narendra Modi, agriculture seems to be a bad and status-less profession. He wants the rural youth, who are ambitious, to work in factories and adopt other non-agricultural professions. In doing so, he tries to solve the problem partially. He does not think about the rural educated youth who still love to work in their agricultural land and don’t wish to be employed elsewhere, where they would be dictated by others.

Questions will be raised when the majority’s decision is treated as final. In our democracy, even a minor section of the people should have the right to live according to its choice. It is an effort in the name of the majority’s voice to stifle the rights of small groups of people. Mr Modi’s intention seems to be more industry-friendly.
