Sir — This refers to the Indian cricket team’s below-par performance in Australia. The team’s defeat by Australia at Adelaide and Brisbane shows that Indian cricket is good only on paper. Some of the Indian batsmen play well only in sub-continental conditions and struggle when they visit countries such as Australia and South Africa. Indian batsmen need to have good batting techniques in order to succeed abroad. The twin Test defeats should be a wake-up call for selectors, as the World Cup is just round the corner.
