Political games

Sir — This has reference to the editorial, “Protraction should end” (September 11). After the result of the Delhi Assembly election was declared, it was clear that no party had the numbers to form a Government. The Congress supported the Aam Aadmi Party and later pulled strings in the same fashion as it had done at the time of supporting Chandra Shekhar’s Government at the Centre after the VP Singh regime collapsed.

The Congress has dented its image while the AAP, a recent formation, has had nothing to lose. The BJP on its part is also not doing any good to its image by resorting to dirty tricks for short-term gains. It should seek a quick re-election to cash in on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity.
