Sir — This refers to the poor defence that the Bharatiya Janata Party has put up over Baba Ramdev’s key associate Ved Pratap Vaidik meeting 26/11-mastermind Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan. The party has disassociated itself from the highly criticised meeting. It is the same BJP which had demanded the immediate arrest of Yasin Malik when he met Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan.
The incident shows that the rules of the game have not changed with a change in Government. While the then ruling Congress was on the defensive over Yasin Malik’s meeting with Hafiz Saeed, the present BJP-led Government is shying away from talking decisively on Mr Vaidik’s controversial rendezvous.
