Sir — Mr Narendra Modi, who took over as Prime Minister just 10 days ago, inherited accumulated liabilities of the past regimes, which were mostly run by the Congress. It appears that some people want immediate tackling of almost all inadequacies in the administration of our country.
After the indulgent policy of mainly the Congress, the abrogation of Article 370 is not child’s play; it’s not as easy as to alter the quota of domestic gas cylinders. The deportation of all illegal Bangladeshis, after identification, is not an overnight job. It may never be possible even.
Similarly, the Maoist menace cannot be eliminated without the segregation of the Red ultras from the adivasi population. The asset of those leaders is the backwardness of the region where the adivasis live. The ultras will incite the masses to thwart any attempt at development. These Maoist leaders have patrons who are based abroad.
The topmost priority of the new Government must be to contain inflation, then to create jobs. We must have patience.
