The CPI(M) must not unnecessarily vitiate the atmosphere by creating a fear complex among the minorities, particularly the Muslims. The party must introspect on why they were thrown out by the voters rather than indulge in threadbare analyses of the actions of the BJP-led Government at the Centre on a daily basis. The CPI(M) is likely to lose its ‘national party’ status. If this kind of venomous and hypocritical attitude towards the BJP continues, the CPI(M) will soon become history.
