Sir — Ms Priyanka Vadra’s remark that her brother Rahul Gandhi wants to give power to the people, is preposterous. It seems as though Mr Gandhi is a monarch of India who can grant special powers to the depressed people of the country. Ms Vadra forgets that India is a republic and that sovereignty vests in the people. It is the people who elect their representatives to form a Government.
love for power is the burning desire of the Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family. Jawaharlal Nehru was neither elected by the people nor selected by the Congress to become Prime Minister. The party had preferred Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. But the will of Mahatma Gandhi prevailed.
Since then, the Congress has been synonymous with the Nehru-Gandhi family. What people most hate is dynastic rule.
