Empty promises

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Document to hoodwink” (March 28). Poll manifestos mean nothing to voters. Nobody reads them to decide which party to vote for. Parties make tall promises, involving massive expenditure, without explaining where the money will come from. The Congress’s manifesto does not appeal because of the terrible track record of the party which gave up on economic reforms under pressure from allies. It cannot be trusted.
