Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Ahead in alliances too” (March 24). You are right to point out that the BJP-led NDA has an edge over the Congress-led UPA in the election, but it should not be taken for granted that the BJP will be able to convert the ‘edge’ into votes and reach the 272 mark. Even the BJP is plagued with infighting and indiscipline, and it will have to struggle to reach the figure on its own. Indeed, it may not do so.
The UPA must also work hard to turn the tables. It must introspect why there is this trend of leaders leaving the Congress.
