Sir — In a recent rally, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi pitched for the need to enhance women’s empowerment, and criticised the BJP for not giving enough space to women.
He must remember that when one of his party leaders behaved indecently with a female actor recently, Congress workers had launched a character-assassination drive against her. She had to withdraw her complaint under duress. Mr Gandhi did not act against the leader. If he is serious about women’s emancipation, then he must push for reservations on the basis of gender rather than caste, creed or religion.
