Sir — This refers to the report, “Justice Ganguly’s resignation report still a mystery” (January 7). It would have been more dignified had retired justice AK Ganguly stepped down on moral grounds immediately as West Bengal Human Rights Commission Chairman when a law intern alleged sexual molestation by him.
First, he denied the allegation and stubbornly refused to quit. Now, he has reportedly resigned because the Cabinet had cleared the decks for a presidential reference for his removal.
Had he been convinced that he had done nothing wrong, he should have gone through the process and proved his innocence. By making it look that he had buckled under pressure from the media and the public, he has raised more eyebrows and suspicion.
