Sir — That Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been pilloried by the pseudo-secularists for following a ‘conscious policy’ of zero-tolerance on terrorism, is not surprising, given that a calibrated crackdown on terror modules is often looked through the prism of vote-bank politics by ideological opponents and cynics alike.
Owing to their pathological dislike of Mr Modi and his iron-fisted approach towards terrorism, they forget that terrorists don’t deserve mercy. And any strong Government would tackle terror to ensure peace. A failure to do so reflects not just the criminal system’s inefficiency but also weak political will and administrative laziness. In retrospect, it seems the Gujarat Government has tackled terrorbeforethe latter engulfed the State’s society rather irredeemably.
