Six alleged members of a gang involved in burglaries at houses and commercial establishments across several Uttar Pradesh districts were arrested in three separate police encounters, three of them receiving gunshot injuries, police said on Tuesday. The three injured were admitted to the district hospital in Bahraich for treatment, while the other three were sent to jail after a court order, police said.
“The gang was active in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Bahraich, Basti, Gonda and Lakhimpur Kheri, among other districts,” Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava said. The arrests were made within two days as part of a 10-day special drive against theft and burglary at the direction of the Director General of police, Srivastava said.
