YSR knocks on BJP's door for united Andhra
Published on:

A delegation of the YSR Congress leaders on Wednesday met BJP chief Rajnath Singh seeking his party’s support for a united Andhra Pradesh.

As the southern State remains paralysed for more than two months now, YSR Congress chief YS Vijayamma appealed to Singh to reconsider BJP’s support to Telangana. The BJP chief is understood to have articulated the BJP’s pro-Telangana position. Vijayamma’s Delhi tour comes after her son Jagan Mohan Reddy started the hunger strike in Hyderabad for a ‘united’ Andhra Pradesh, pulling the rug from under the feet of Telugu Desam Party leader N Chandrababu Naidu.

The former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, who was seen cozying up with the BJP, also announced to sit in on a hunger strike in Delhi. leaders close to Naidu admit that with Jagan out of jail, he was giving a tough competition to the TDP in Seemandhra and that has compelled Naidu to rethink on being seen as a closer ally to the BJP, which is openly supporting Telangana.

Out of power for almost a decade now, Naidu is desperate to make a comeback this time and was hoping to capitalize on Narendra Modi’s popularity to improve its performance in the State.
