YSR Congress party Member of Parliament P Mithun Reddy was arrested on Sunday morning in case of assault on an Air India official. The incident had occurred in November at Tirupati airport as a flight had left without waiting for the MP.
Mithun Reddy along with another associate Madhusudhan Reddy was arrested at Chennai airport on Sunday morning and handed over to Andhra Pradesh police which produced them before a magistrate in Tiruapti.
The court remanded both the accused to 14 days judicial custody. Mithun Reddy, who represents Rajampet constituency of Kadapa district in lok Sabha, was eluding arrest since a case was booked against him and 15 others on November 27 on a complaint lodged by Air India station manager Rajasekhar. The police were looking for Mithun Reddy as the court had rejected his anticipatory bail. The Air India official alleged that the MP and others assaulted him after he refused to issue boarding pass to him and his other family members as they had reached the airport late and the boarding was closed.
Meanwhile the YSR Congress party termed his arrest a part of a conspiracy to defame the MP and the party. “This is an attempt to create fear in the party”, alleged Bhaskar Reddy, the father of the MP and the party legislator.
