The mortal remains of Ilabvarasan, the 20-year-old youth who committed suicide on July 4 at Dharmapuri was buried in a specially built vault in the backyard of his house  at Naikkankottai village.

Thousands had gathered to bid farewell to Ilavarasan who took to the extreme step following the decision of Divya, his lover, not to go back to him.

A team of forensic experts from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, conducted a second autopsy on the body of Ilavarasan on Saturday as per the directions of the Madras High Court. The experts led by Dr D N Bharadwaj will hand over their findings to the Madras High Court soon.

Though a team of Government doctors had held the post-mortem of Ilavarasan on July 5 itself, the Madras High Court had ordered for a second autopsy following doubts raised by the relatives of the deceased.

The love affair between Ilavarsan, a Dalit youth and Divya, a Vanniyar girl and their elopement in October last had resulted in riots and vandalism  in Dharmapuri. Nagarajan, father of Divya, committed suicide. Following a habeas corpus petition filed by her mother, Divya appeared before the Madras High Court and announced   that she would go with her mother and has nothing to do with Ilavarsasn.

The next day Ilavarasan was found dead near a railway track at Dharmapuri. The Tamil Nadu Forensic laboratory which checked the “suicide note” found  in the trouser pocket of Ilavarasan confirmed on Saturday that the handwriting in the four-page note was that of Ilavarsan.

Ilavarsan’s father Elango and mother Krishnamma had alleged that their son was murdered. But police sources said Ilavarasan had tried to commit suicide immediately after Divya let it known that she would not go back to him.
