Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia lauded children for their bravery and courage in the face of danger while felicitating them with bravery awards on Thursday.

While presenting awards to the young ‘unsung heroes’ at Gallantry Awards ceremony held at the Delhi Secretariat, the Deputy CM said they had set up an example for their adults to emulate.

“We are proud of the courage shown by the children. Our heartfelt condolences to the parents of those children who have laid down their lives while saving others. They have made their parents proud by their selfless act,” said Delhi Health Minister Satender Jain, who was also present on the occasions with other officials of the Government.

Sisodia appreciated the parents for encouraging their children to be courageous. “These children saved lives without any expectations, which make their bravery selfless. What these children have done, sometimes even adults fail to do. I salute the way parents have brought these children up by making them fearless and courageous,” the Deputy CM said.

Citing stories of courage and bravery, Sisodia expressed hope that this courage and bravery is instilled in children across the country.

“Take the story of 8.5-year-old Neelam, who rescued a friend from an 8 feet deep pit. I want to tell her that even when you grow up you won’t fit into that pit. But the courage you have shown by this act is even taller than that pit,” he added.

Sisodia had a special message for the young heroes towards the conclusion of the event. “I want to tell you that some days later when you are walking on Rajpath in the Republic Day Parade, the whole nation will laud your bravery. You will be flanked by army contingents and tanks and they are brave too. But remember you don’t need to be a soldier or have a weapon to have the kind of bravery that you have shown,” he said.
