Accompanied by his Gujarat counterpart Vijay Rupani, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and star campaigner of ruling BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls Yogi Adityanath on Friday paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by visiting ‘Statue of Unity’ – the tallest statue of the world situated near Sardar Sarovar Dam.

Yogi, who was personally invited by Gujarat CM Rupani couldn’t remain present in the inauguration ceremony of the Statue on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on October 31 in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sources in Gujarat BJP said that other BJP ruled CMs would visit the statue site in coming days. Even President Ramnath Kovind is also scheduled to visit the statue on December 15.

Meanwhile, during his brief interaction with the local media Yogi praise Gujarat Government’s efforts to pay befitting tribute to the ‘Ironman of India’ by constructing his tallest statue at Sadhu Bet situated on the River Narmada. Despite repeated questions about Ram temple at Ayodhya, Yogi didn’t make any remarks before a group of newsmen.

“It was Sardar’s vision to merge more than 550 Princely States into Union of India immediately after the independence. The statue would give inspiration for unity to generations in future,” he said adding that the Statue of Unity would also bring prosperity and employment opportunities in the tribal dominated Narmada district.

Officials of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited briefed the UP CM about the ‘Statue of Unity’ project. He also visited ‘Valley of Flowers’ near the Statue apart from climbing the statue up to viewing gallery.
