In another decision, the BJP Government has decided to implement the Centre’s notification of April 25, 2015 to set up PM Mining Village Welfare Foundations at all districts. This foundation will help in speeding up welfare work in the mining areas. “The cabinet has approved the guidelines of the Foundation as per directives of the Central Government,” Singh said.

These Foundations would be given 10 per cent royalty collected by the Government on mining and from that money it will carry out welfare work. “ While 60 per cent of the Foundation fund would be used for drinking water, environment, pollution control, health, education, women and child welfare and cleanliness, the rest 40 per cent would be used for irrigation purpose in the area,” Singh said.

He said that the objective of the foundation is to work for the interest of the people affected by mining and through its transportation.

GST: The cabinet has also approved the Goods and Services Taxes (GST) to be tabled in the State legislature in the coming special session starting from May 15.

Parliamentary Affairs minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that the GST Bill has already been approved by the lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and the state legislature will only ratify it. The GST is expected to be implemented in the country from July 1. “The GST will bring a single tax system in the country and would benefit common people. Besides, UP would be receiving more revenue after implementation of the GST. If there is any loss of revenue, the Centre would compensate it for the next five years,” Khanna said.

“Traders with annual turnover of over Rs 20 lakh will have to register themselves in the GST. The petroleum products have been kept out of the purview of the GST,” he said.
