Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ahead of the Budget session on Monday, said the Government was ready to discuss all issues related to the public.

He, however, said that the smooth conduct of the proceedings of the Assembly for meaningful debate on issues concerning the people was possible only if the Opposition cooperated in maintaining a congenial atmosphere in the House.

“I welcome and greet all the honourable members. The session starts today. It begins with the governor’s speech.  I am confident that the members will extend their positive cooperation for debate on the issues of development of the state.  I say with confidence that the manner in which the State has got guidance from Governor Anandiben Patel, the House will be run smoothly” the Chief Minister said.

“The conduct of the MLAs in the House will be on the agenda of the public discourse of 25 crore people of UP and other states, so members should not conduct themselves against their dignity and the dignity of the House. If the members conduct themselves as per parliamentary norms instead of creating din in the House then it will be in the interest of all,” the chief minister said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party legislators showed up in the saffron, while the Samajwadi Party MLAs wore red caps and the Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party MLAs donned yellow caps.

While SP members, including leader of opposition Akhilesh Yadav, wore red caps, the BJP legislators were seen donning saffron colour, distributed by a legislator just before the start of the session. Members of the Rashtriya Lok Dal had green scarves tied around their necks during the joint sitting of both the houses of UP legislature.

Yogi Adityanath further said any question or issue received by the assembly secretariat under the right rules would be answered by the government.

“We are always ready for a positive discussion,” he said.

On the first budget of his second term, to be presented on May 26, the chief minister said, “This budget is important for the development of the 25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh, for the development of citizens and for overall development of society. Our aim is to take the development of UP to new heights.”

The chief minister also said any conduct against the members of the House would not be “tolerated”.
