Rejecting the claim of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) that 19 of its Delhi-based officials have been issued travel permits to attend the World T-20 matches, the Pakistan High Commission officials said on Thursday that Indian Government’s statement was “misleading.”
Pak High Commission sources said only ten people have been cleared so far and among those who have not been given permission include Defence Adviser, Press Counsellor, three Political Counsellors, Naval Advisor and Air Force Advisor.
“The High Commission applied for 34 officials to watch four matches two in Kolkata and two in Mohali. They have so far given permission for only ten which also includes High Commissioner and family members of the officials. While permission for Defence Advisor, Press Counsellor, three Political Counsellors, Naval Advisor, Air Force Advisor, and Protocol Assistants have not been given permission. The figure of 19 given by India is misleading,” High Commission sources said.
However, sources in Indian Government had already ruled out giving travel permits to Pakistan diplomats who have links to military and Pak Intelligence agency Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).
