Expressing serious concern over the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran as well as Russia and Ukraine, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the world is edging closer to a third world war.

“There is an atmosphere of conflict going on across the world amid the war between Israel and Iran as well as Russia and Ukraine. The situation is such that it could push the world into another World War anytime,” said Gadkari, while speaking at the launch of of book named ‘Beyond Borders’ in Nagpur

Alluding to the changing nature of modern warfare and excessive reliance on technology, Gadkari said: “Due to the increasing technology of war, the dimensions of war have changed, and the use of missiles and drones has increased in the war. Because of this,  the relevance of tanks and other types of aircraft is decreasing.

“Amidst all this, it has become difficult to protect humanity. Missiles are often fired at civilian settlements. It may not be right to say so, but (the truth is) all this is slowly leading to destruction. Authoritarianism and dictatorship of superpowers is destroying coordination, harmony and love,” the senior BJP leader said.

Hailing India as the land of the Lord Gautam Buddha giving the message of truth, non-violence and peace to the world, Gadkari said there was a need to ascertain future policy after reviewing and deliberating on international happenings underway. All these issues need to be discussed at the global level,” leader said.
