Taking a serious note of pending cases in the Supreme Court and High Court, where the UP Government is also a party, Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar asked all departments to ensure that counter affidavits were filed in respective courts without delay. He said that the Government would not tolerate lapses and erring officers will face stern action.
Reviewing pending cases in courts of each Government department, Bhatnagar directed all Principal Secretaries to ensure follow ups of cases in courts. He also directed that efforts be made for disposal of disputes of State employees by the heads of departments so that they were not forced to approach courts.
The Chief Secretary asked all departments to update the list of pending cases in various courts and draw an action plan for perusal of those cases in a time-bound manner. He stressed that nodal officers be appointed in each department for ensuring co-ordination with Government counsels.
Bhatnagar said that these nodal officers would be responsible for liaising with Government counsels and furnish required information from the departments.
The Chief Secretary also directed Principal Secretaries to update the list of all cases which were concerned with development schemes and projects and ensure constant monitoring of the cases so that implementation of projects were not affected.
