Former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly on Thursday reiterated his decision “for the final time” that he was not joining politics.
The stylish southpaw who called on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at new secretariat building Nabanna said he was not going to join politics and that he was content with his cricket field.
“For God’s sake spare me! I am not entering the political field as I am content with being in the cricket field,” Ganguly one of the finest captains and lefty batsmen reportedly with leftist leanings told the media adding he would do anything to help the cause of cricket.
Ganguly who had been close to former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee apart from being a “close friend” of former Bengal Urban Development Minister Ashok Bhattacharya had earlier been contacted by the top BJP leadership reportedly with offers of lok Sabha tickets which he had politely declined. He declined the offer of the Congress Party as well when PCC president Pradip Bhattacharya met him at his residence.
When asked to affirm “whether it is your final decision not to join politics” Ganguly said “it is full and final.”
