Won't follow appeasement: UP Guv

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik said that the Yogi Adityanath Government will not follow a policy of appeasement and his Government was committed to protecting the interests of all sections of the society, irrespective of caste and religion.

Addressing the joint session of the UP legislature on the inaugural day of the 17th Assembly, Naik said, “It is the priority of the Government to eradicate corruption, provide transparent administration, fulfill aspirations of the people and ensure all round development of UP. The people have given unprecedented mandate to this Government with great hope and it has tried to ensure due representation of all communities and region.'”

“My Government is committed to instill a sense of security among the masses apart from making arrangements of basic needs like food, drinking water, housing, hygiene (toilets) health and education. It is the target of the Government to reaffirm the faith of the people in the Government and also ensure their participation. The State Government will bridge the gap between the State and the people by providing good governance,” the Governor said.

Naik said that the Government will encourage officers and employees doing good work, but the corrupt and inefficient would be punished.

“The Government would be dedicated to people’s welfare and would be accountable to them. This Government is committed to providing such a system which is permanent, sensitive and development-oriented,” the Governor said.

Without naming any party or the leader, Naik said that UP was once a leading State of the country, but in the past several years, it has lagged behind in all spheres of development as compared to other States.

“ It is our resolve to usher UP as a frontline State with emphasis on Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas. Announcement of farm loan waiver to 86 lakh farmers to the tune of over Rs36,000 crore and to ensure 24-hour power supply by October 2018 was the target,” he said.

“In its short stint, the new Government has made transparent and corruption-free arrangement of e-tendering through use of modern Information Technology in all Government departments besides setting up a task force to identify land grabbers and eliminate land mafia. Besides, the anti-Romeo squad has already made its impact on the society,” Naik said.

In his 101 page address, the Governor dealt upon every Government department and what the Yogi Government has done during its 55-day tenure.

Naik said that the monthly pension of physically challenged and widows have been raised to Rs500 from the previous Rs300, while interest subsidy would be given to the people for constructing their houses.

During his 35-minute speech, which was marred by protest by the Opposition, Naik also highlighted ways and means on how the BJP Government will improve governance.
