A house wife facing sexual harassment from a rowdy committed suicide by setting herself ablaze in front of a police station in Hyderabad.
The incident occurred outside Boenpally police station on Tuesday morning. 25-year-old Sabita was shifted to Gandhi hospital in a serious condition where she was succumbed in the evening, police inspector Vijay Kumar said.
Family members of Sabita alleged that she was facing sexual harassment by a rowdy Venkatesh. He had allegedly shot her video when she was taking bath at her home in Annanagar and was trying to blackmail her.
Despite her complaints police did not act against her tormentor and she took the extreme step.
Even as passes by watched in shock Sabita poured kerosene and set herself ablaze. The policemen on duty rushed and tried to douse the fire by spreading a blanket over her but she was seriously injured. later she was shifted in an ambulance to hospital.
Sabita was married and had two daughters.
Senior police officers have taken up investigation into the case.
